Raducanu made it to the third stage in three of the four major tournaments during the season.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain will not compete in the last two tournaments in 2025 as a result of the illness she has been battling over the past 10 days.

At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate before starting her preparations for 2026.

These plans will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have decided to continue collaborating in 2026.

Raducanu required blood pressure checks while playing the initial match with Ann Li in Wuhan and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She again required a visit from the doctor at the Ningbo Open this week, where she lost in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the first round.

Her movement was with clear difficulty in the third set versus Zhu due to the lower back problem that has been a concern during parts of the season.

Such performances signaled a promising season, in which Raducanu rose into the world's top 30 for the first time since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points prior to falling to Jessica Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.

She secured 28 victories during 2025 and advanced to the semis in Washington, but her most impressive week was at the Miami Open in March.

As Britain's top player reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed during the tournament before losing in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

She worked with Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open.

The first plan with the former trainer of Nadal was through the season's conclusion but they will keep working together, with a training session scheduled for the end of the year.

She mentioned that a three-day test period with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She came very close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in August's Cincinnati tournament.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three then falling to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
