Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
