Event planners of the Melbourne major have unveiled the Seven-Figure Quick-Fire Competition, which will match everyday competitors against 22 professionals in a single-elimination format at Melbourne Park

The Unique Tournament Functions

Players will play 'the classic hand game' to decide who serves or receives, and the competitor securing the point will move forward to the subsequent phase

The champion of the event will earn a significant cash prize

By comparison, players who reached the final four of the men's or women's singles in the 2025 Australian Open won A$1.1m

The American Grand Slam hosted a revamped, standalone mixed doubles tournament in the eighth month which prompted top singles players to participate, with the victors receiving a million-dollar prize

The Melbourne tournament held its inaugural One Point Slam earlier this year, but the total purse was sixty thousand Australian dollars and it had limited exposure

Planners have not said exactly how the event will work, but it is anticipated to follow a similar format to this year's edition

Entry Details

Local players - or international players who have signed up with the national federation - can enter 'single-point competition' competitions at their community centers

The victors of the community events will then go into a random pairing, with one amateur player from every state and territory chosen to take part in the 'championship round' in a evening match on Wednesday, 14 January

There will also be a qualifying draw in December which everyday players, aspiring competitors, famous personalities and sports personalities can participate in

It starts on early January and the successful competitors will qualify for Wednesday's 'grand finale' with the additional everyday players and elite competitors

Event organizers mentioned there were "further celebrities to be revealed shortly", while the event portal said "famous personalities" would be taking part
