Arteta Hails a More Dependable Team and Reveals Havertz Injury Blow.

Mikel Arteta feels assured that his team can keep managing with fitness issues following revealing that attacker Kai Havertz remains out for a few more weeks.

Prolonged Recovery for Havertz

The German forward has been out since the summer after undergoing an operation on his knee. Hoped to come back earlier in December, the manager stated the player hit a snag when increasing his rehabilitation and failed to reach “to the next level.”

“Our experience helped us build a team that is considerably steadier and has increased versatility,” commented Arteta.

Selection Dilemma for Brentford Clash

This development creates a selection headache for Wednesday’s match against Brentford. A decision is required between persisting with Mikel Merino, who found the net in an unfamiliar forward role against Chelsea, or reinstating Viktor Gyökeres, who made a return after a fitness issue as a substitute. Veteran striker Gabriel Jesus remains in contention following a lengthy absence.

Fitness Doubts Persist

Further fitness issues surround defender William Saliba and winger Leandro Trossard, who both missed the weekend encounter. Consequently, summer signings Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié are likely to keep their places in central defence for the table-toppers.

Arteta believes the significant outlay on new players ahead of this season has left Arsenal in a far better place to handle such setbacks.

Greater Options Key to Premier League Pursuit

In response if a larger pool of players was benefiting their championship push, his response was positive. “Absolutely, since the current term has seen more issues in certain positions, and now the situation with the backline,” he added.

“History has shown us that we have to use players in various roles, and they must be capable to fulfil different roles if we are to fight at this level. And the example of Mikel is probably the prime illustration.”

Arteta's Support for Suffering Star

Commenting on the delay noted by national team coach Julian Nagelsmann, Arteta provided more insight. “His recovery was progressing. He could not go to the required step and now the signs are like we have unlocked that.”

The manager conveyed his eagerness to see him return. “We’re all desperate to have him. I mean, Havertz is someone that, for me, I value highly for his contributions to the team, but his personality, his nature. I watch him struggle being outside.”

“His fitness history is phenomenal, he’s been always available, and I can’t wait to get him back around the team and playing because I think it’s going to be a huge lift.”
